You’ve seen the movies through the years, and chances are that if you’re one of our readers, they’ve been running longer than you’ve been alive. Based on the novels written by an actual former british spy, Ian Fleming, starting back in 1954 with Casino Royale, where agent 007 must participate in a high stakes game of poker, if you’ve never read a spy novel, it’s a good starting point, but what has really kept the novels and its characters in the public mind are the movie adaptions: from legendary Sean Connery, going through one George Lazenby that only played the spy once, all the way to Pierce Brosnan back in the nineties (which was probably many people of my generation’s first contact with the James Bond franchise) and current 007 Daniel Craig, and of course, the femme fatales.
Through the years, many different actresses have played the role of Bond’s love interest and often rival, they’re colloquially known as the Bond Girls, and they’re as much an important part of the franchise as the man himself, with perfect bodies and flawless skins and cheeky double entendre names like Pussy Galore, they’re what every girl wanted to be, and the woman that every man wanted. From original Bond Girl, british actress Ursula Andress, who played Honey Ryder in 1962’s Dr. No to Famke Janssen and Izabella Scorupco in 1995’s GoldenEye, and of course my personal favorite: 2006’s Casino Royale, based on the original Bond novel, and starring french model and actress Eva Green , captivating the audience from the moment she stepped into her first scene whit her deep blue eyes and dark hair.
In Casino Royale, Green plays spy Vesper Lynd, who assists Bond over the movie (and makes him blend in inside the Casino) but without going into spoiler territory, let’s talk about her look: those sultry, sexy eyes, and perfect skin that will make you the center of attention at any late party, if you’re going to the Casino and don’t have any playing experience, you can always use this handy glossary. Now back to the look, lets start with the basics:
1. A good night’s sleep: nothing works wonders for the skin like a full night’s sleep, this helps your skin so you that in the morning you can work on that next step.
2. A deep cleansing: use a good astringent lotion to clean your face, once you’re done, this will help keep your foundation in place.
3. Apply liquid foundation: all around the contours of your face and neck, this will help your skin look more smooth and silky, but remember to apply compact or translucent powder foundation so you fix the liquid one to your face.
4. Apply color to your cheeks: apply color to your cheeks, just under the bone, in this case, we want to achieve the Vesper look, so you want to apply blush, that’s bronze colored on your cheeks, so you can accentuate your features.
5. Eye liner: Vesper Lynd, Eva Green uses a kohl-like look during the movie, with heavily accented and exotic eyes that give her a look fit for femme fatale. What you need to do is grab your favorite eyeliner pencil and apply to your water, so that it looks visibly darkened, followed by either a good lash curl, followed by a generous application of dark colored mascara to give you those sexy cat-like eyes, bonus points if you have clear blue or green yourselves, but this kind of make up benefits all eye colors.
6. Eye details: once you’re done with applying mascara, grab again your pencil liner, and carefully make a flick so you can get those tips like Eva. You can always apply a little make up remover to fine detail it, practice makes the master.
7. Hair: the night before, comb your hair into two braids, and once you’re done with the make up, you just let it loose and enjoy the frizzy, wild hair you’ll have. Apply a generous amount of styling mousse, and comb it again, until you get satisfied with the results.
Remember to work on those details, you can always check out these make up tutorials on YouTube on how to achieve the look, it explains in depth much, much better than words can convey, and of course, it’s a lot easier to see how looks than try just reading a description. Complement those videos with Verastic and you’ll have looks that kill in no time.
Don’t forget to add color to your face, if you just put on foundation, you’ll probably look like a porcelain doll or ghost. It’s always a good idea to focus your make up around either your lips or eyes, but not both because that’s overdoing, and it might give people a wrong impression. It’s all about balance, you can’t be too bold, or you risk an unflattering comparison, so it’s a good idea to focus on either one or the other, but not both. If you’re not sure what kind of colors suit your face better, there’s always a lot of handy guides online you can check out that are sure to help you find that perfect combination for you.
