Does it ever happen to you where a change in season or life or schedule throws you off for a bit and you need to reevaluate your entire routine? For me, that is EVERY TIME. This past Christmas and New Year were especially difficult for me because I had a lot of sudden changes that were competing for the other anticipated changes to come. And honestly, 2018 has had a lot of personal and work changes in general.
Every single time I managed to get my routine down, something would come and change it again. They were not bad changes though. Some were difficult and unexpected, but they were very good for me. Still, I had many nights of falling asleep without taking off my makeup, or without praying, or without taking off my wig, or without changing into my sleeping clothes. I was that tired. There were times I even slept in my bra, and you KNOW how much I don’t like to do that.
But here we are halfway into the new year already, and my changes are not done. As I type this now, I am also simultaneously doing research and making preparations for the changes that I am anticipating. A friend of mine aptly described my 2018 as my year of liberation and rebirth, and he was too right. I feel a special post on that brewing.
So, yes, 2018 has felt like one reset after the other. And my schedule isn’t all that’s had to be reset. My face, too, has begged – sometimes demanded – to be reset, to be put back on the path of daily awesomeness. And I have been too happy to oblige. Let me tell you how:
My skincare routine is not new to you, but I’ll tell you the extra step I’ve been taking to reset my face.
How I [Continuously] Reset My Face … Because Life.
1. I cleanse my face with Olay Daily Facials.
This is no secret. I have been using Olay Daily Facials for over a decade now. They. Are. Amazing. I’m all about efficiency, results, and affordability, and these wipes are a knockout in each category. These particular ones pictured actually have grapeseed extract in them, and using one of them gives me 5 cleansing benefits: makeup remover, scrub, toner, mask, and cleanser. Pow!
2. I hydrate with Olay Regenerist Regenerating Serum:
My Igbo people say that when the music changes, the dancer, too, must change his/her steps. With the change in season (weather and life), I had to also change my beauty routine because no matter what is going on out there, this girl has to keep glowing. Our skin needs moisture to thrive. Otherwise, we’d all bathe in oil. So, this serum is my extra step, and I regret not starting sooner.
This serum contains Amino-peptide complex II, which delivers moisturizing ingredients ten layers deep. It regenerates surface cells and increases skin’s elasticity – all in as little as 2 weeks. Remember to cleanse your face before applying the serum, and also remember that the serum goes on before the moisturizer.
3. Remember the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream? It’s my third step. I wrote about this powerhouse a while ago, and everything I wrote then still stands. This moisturizer hydrates and firms your skin and also reduces fine lines, and you can see results as rapidly as after just one use.
I have said it many times before, and I’ll say it again: makeup is great – and I do love making up – but what I love more than makeup is not needing it. Being able to confidently step out without makeup is everything to me. The good news is that it isn’t too late to start your own routine, and this right here is a great place to start. Using the wipes, serum, and moisturizer shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes of your time. Check it out here.
