Welcome to May.
April 2016, too, is now a thing of the past. How did your April go? I’m thinking that I did not do much in April, but we’ll know for sure by the end of this post. So let’s get to it:
Listen To Your Mother: In the month of April, I attended my last rehearsal for this show, and in the week of the event, I was quite emotional. Then I went for the event, and honestly, I am still high from it. Standing there, telling my story and having people laugh and cheer and clap. Wow. I don’t have the video of the performance yet, but I wrote about it here and below is the video I made behind the scenes.
Ada Verastic: In the month of April, my daughter became six whole months! I’m already actively planning her birthday party, although most of the planning is still in my head. Still, I’m excited about the turn up.
Networking Events: One thing that being a stay-at-home mom has afforded me is the flexibility to attend events on week days. If I still had a nine-to-five, I wouldn’t be able to just call out of work several times a week to go shake hands with people who might take me to the next level. I’m pretty sure my supervisor would have called me into the office to ask me if I still wanted my job.
In April, I got to volunteer and give back by packing food for hungry families in Glen Burnie. In the month of April, Toyota gave me a RAV4 to drive around for a while. (I have returned the car now). It was also in the month of April that I got to speak at a branding event at Morgan State University. And I got to attend the XFINITY Moms event in D.C., hosted by Comcast. The recap video is below.
Speaking of videos, at the rate I’m going with learning how to edit, I might soon be working with Stephen Spielberg. Watch out for my work. Seriously, though, I won’t say that it has become a breeze for me, but I can say confidently that I’m better now than I was before at editing videos. Have you subscribed to my YouTube channel yet? It’s still a baby channel, but trust me, there is MORE coming. *wink*
I think that pretty much sums up my April, but one thing I can say that I learned recently about networking is that sometimes, you network today, but you do not necessarily rip the rewards tomorrow. It might be next week, or next month, or even next year. But you have to keep putting yourself out there no matter what. Speaking of doing what you gotta do, I will be attending the second annual Maryland Blogger Bash tomorrow. When I went last year, I was pregnant and couldn’t drink any wine, but this year, it is on!
That’s it for my April. How was April for you?
P.S. Check out my previous journals
