I went to Walmart the other day to buy my lotion (Jergens Shea Butter something … can’t remember the full name) when I noticed that a jar of cream was locked up. It was the Palmer’s one. I picked it up and stared at it. I thought it was funny because why would you lock up a jar of cream, and what even made this particular cream so special? That was when I noticed that there were a lot of locked creams.
And they all had one thing in common: they were all for dry skin. Which now begs the question: who has been stealing dry skin cream from Walmart — and why? I forgot to check the prices of these creams, but do they cost significantly more than other creams and lotions? And does Walmart lose so much money on these creams that they have decided to deploy the cream locker upper?
Years ago, I remember seeing condoms locked at a store – Giant, I think. Each box had is own little prison. I blogged about it back then, too. Although, somehow, I can understand condoms being locked up. Perhaps, horny teenagers have been coming there to get their free supply. The condom post is here, but unfortunately, I lost the images while moving from Blogspot to WordPress. But creams – especially dry skin creams – are mind boggling. And it’s not even winter. Has dry skin become such an epidemic that stealing dry skin creams is the way to go? I don’t know for sure though that that’s the reason why Walmart is locking their creams up, but what other reason could there be?
Speaking of Walmart, something terrible is happening. I think I might be slightly over it. Or maybe it’s just a phase. Or maybe it’s the fact that my store branch sucks. Items are always missing from the shelves and the lines to pay are always so long because as big as the store is, there are usually about 4 registers open. Whose idea was that? So these days, I just skip the entire store. I don’t want to deal.
P.S. Meanwhile, if you care to know, my Jergens lotion was not one of the imprisoned ones.
P.P.S. Because these creams are locked up, it kind of makes me desire them more. Now I really want to try them all. Do you think that’s the game Walmart is playing here? Things become more desirable when you can’t have them. That’s why so many people run after married people.

Lol…..maybe their marketing strategy worked….now it’s appealing to buy the product because it is locked. BTW, I have always wondered about the long lines and empty shelves. Looks like it’s not just me. I have been avoiding the store as well and only go when really necessary.

So it’s not just the Walmart in my area then. So annoying! I’d have to go there several times for one item because it’s never on the shelf, and when I finally find it, I have to stand in line forever. Nope. Not worth it.
