When it comes to weddings, I have seen many, many things, but this one is completely new for me. Today’s mail came in from an anonymous Verastic reader who was a guest at this wedding. The reader sent me the link to the registry where I stared with my mouth wide open. I also saw their wedding website, and honestly, I didn’t do much reading there. I just looked at pictures. Bow is the very short mail the reader sent (and I have excluded the link).
“Dear Vera, I want to anonymously forward you some material for you to review.”
Most people – like this couple – have registries for their wedding, but what makes their registry different is the content. To their credit, the registry you are about to see is not their only one, but this one is the one that has gotten attention and then subsequently landed them on Verastic.
Below are some screenshots of their registry. I have deliberately left their names out to protect their privacy.
In case you can’t see it well from the pictures, I’ll list some of the items here (some of the items in the screen shots appear twice because of the way I took the screen shots):
(1) Vacuum cleaner: $682 || (2) Sony TV: 1499.99 (and they want 2) | (3) Samsung fridge: $2,500 (they want 2) | (4) Gas stove: $2,499.99 | (5) Honeymoon: $2,500 (and they want 2) | (6) Home fund: $2,500 (and they want 120. Yes, 120 gifts of $2,500 = $300,000)
You know I always have something to say, but this time, I am really speechless. Some of the things everything on this registry, I didn’t even know you could have on your registry. I mean, I just didn’t know you could expect someone to give you all this, on account of you getting married. From their pictures on their website, they appear to be a normal couple. There was nothing to suggest high maintenance or high fashion.
But I have to ask: is this normal? I’m used to wedding registries that contain platters and kitchen appliances, but this one contains several mortgages. The first thing I thought when I saw this registry was, “Are Oprah and Bill Gates going to be there?” If not, who the frack is going to pay for all these things? Is this even legal?
In other news, Igwe and I have updated our future registry. Please feel free to get us one or more of the following: 10.5 acres of land in Banana Island, Lagos, two matching Bentleys, two matching private jets, a private island in Bora Bora, and a Hermes Birkin bag. Thank you.
I am itching to know what you think of this wedding registry.
UPDATE: I made an error initially. I said the couple wants 12 gifts of $2,500 for their home (which makes $30,000), but actually, they want 120 gifts of $2,500 (which makes $300,000 or 47 million in naira)
Berry Dakara says
And I thought my friend’s $150 waste basket was frivolous. I obviously have NO IDEA!

Ask and you will receive.
Vera Ezimora says
Chill Escape,
That’s one way to look at it.
deaduramilade says
Looool. I’m dead. it depends tho. If they are from Adenuga type background, they know that their family and friends can afford it so no wahala
Vera Ezimora says
But if they are from Adenuga-type background, then they wouldn’t need to ask for these things, right? I don’t know. But yeah, that’s why I asked if Oprah will be at the wedding.
deaduramilade says
they want you people to help them furnish their house and their life
Vera Ezimora says
Well, that’s for their wedding guests to
figurefurnish. Lol.Lady Ngo says
The devil is a liar! What kind of registry is this? And people have the nerve to complain about folks that ask for honeymoon donations. Either they are extremely delusional or they have some very wealthy/generous friends and family. If thats the case, i’d love to make friends with them so i can put their people on my guestlist as well lol.
Vera Ezimora says
Lady Ngo, I, too, will like to make friends with such people. That’s why we updated our future registry. And this couple asked for honeymoon donations, too. $2500 for each of them.
Pendo says
Why did they stop there they should have opened one at Chevrolet or better still BMW in Germany and sak guests to cover the shipping costs as well!
Vera Ezimora says
Looooooool. Pendo, I’m laughing so hard here, imagining a registry at BMW Germany. Hahaha. You’re giving me ideas for our future registry.
Funmie says
Mixed emotions
I am confused
Vera Ezimora says
Fufu, what is the confusion mixed with? Lol.
Funmie says
Gosh I’m in a meeting and I am sitting here so damn uneasy???

Ole barawo…
But on the other side, please ask the sender of this info how many of the gift they got… I am curious
Vera Ezimora says
Lol. You’re just mad that you didn’t think of it first. And point of correction: it’s not 12 donations of $2,500 that they need. It’s 120 donations. Get it right, girl! 😀
According to their registry, they got the crib. I can’t tell the price of the crib because it’s been bought and the price isn’t showing.
ola says
Jesu christi lol This is just beyond imagination. They should have included a house in hollywood + hummer. On a serious note though how many of the gifts did they get? Ha ga ezu oshi!
Vera Ezimora says
According to the registry, they only got the baby crib, but the amount isn’t showing because it’s been bought. Lol at the house and hummer.
Omotee says
They are high on cheap drugs. Ole buruku
Vera Ezimora says

Vera Ezimora says
Meme, lol. I like the bible quotation. In my head, it seems like too much to ask from your guests, but maybe I’m timid. What do I know? Lol.
earniewhine muibat lawal says
