From the first time I watched this season, I have been rooting for Amber Riley. Amber is a young, black, curvy girl, so naturally, I liked her. I like seeing people who look like me on television and doing great things. I love seeing women. I love seeing curvy women. I love seeing Black people. I love seeing Nigerians. I love seeing Africans. If there is any special way I can relate to a person, apart from just being fellow human beings, I hold on to it.
In the end, I was sure it would be between Amber Riley and Corbin Bleu, and that Corbin guy, he was very, very, good too. The thing with Amber is that she was consistently good from start to finish, never really having a bad day. A bad day for Amber was a good for someone else, and she did half her dancing on a hurt knee. Amber Riley is also very likeable. Before Dancing With The Stars, I did not even know her name. I only knew her as the girl from Glee.So yesterday was the season finale and I made Igwe watch two hours of Dancing With The Stars with me. He complained that it was torture, and I couldn’t care less. When Amber was announced as the winner, he was happy, too because he knew I was rooting for her. I literally gave Amber a standing ovation in my living room. Go Amber!
Check out the videos below of Amber and Derek dancing. The first video is of them dancing on Monday night; the second video is of them dancing yesterday, and the third video is when they won the mirror ball trophy.
P.S. Congrats to Derek Hough, too! This is his 5th mirror ball trophy. He also won the mirror ball trophy for the 16th season (the season before this one). Don’t end your Dancing With The Stars career yet, Derek! Wait for me ♥
