It was on Thursday, July 17th that my phone went into vegetative state. I woke up in the morning, stretched, did my morning prayers, and started scrolling through Instagram. I used to have a habit of waking up and reaching for my phone immediately to read emails, texts, tweets, and of course Instagram. But I have consciously stopped reaching for my phone first thing in the morning. Anyway ….
I was scrolling through Instagram when my phone suddenly went off, came back on, went off, and came on again. It did this like 10 times, then it finally came on and stayed on. I wasn’t freaking out at all because my phone had done this so many times before. Although, during the previous incidents, it would only go off once and come back on. But eventually on Thursday, the phone just froze on one screen. I popped the battery out to restart it (and I had done on so many other days) and it went off and never came on. Well, it came on, but it stayed on the start-up screen.
I took it to T-Mobile the next day, but they couldn’t fix it. Three T-mobile guys tried and failed. That evening (Friday), I started tweeting with the Samsung Support people, and they were quite helpful, trying to give me all these trouble shooting ideas. Still, nothing. The Samsung people told me to take it to the Samsung Experience shop at Best Buy. I did that on Saturday morning. He tried and tried. Nothing. So I gave up and went to T-Mobile to get a new phone.
Sweet Potatoes, this is my new phone – Samsung Galaxy S5 (on the right). And on the left side is the Samsung Galaxy S3. I was quite upset about having to buy this phone cause I was waiting tight for the Samsung Galaxy Note S4 (which should be out around September/October). It was not love at first sight with this phone, but I like it now, and I’ll probably fall in love with it soon.
When my phone died, all I was thinking about was that I need a working phone because I’m going to the BlogHer conference and I need to document my journey. It’s my first one! Please pray for me oooo. I need God’s divine favor at this conference. I cannot return the way I left. I have to come back bigger and better. And with more connections. Amen. Tomorrow, I’ll put up a post with a picture of some of the things I’m taking.
Meanwhile, I’m looking for the perfect phone case. I bought this one under duress because I needed something immediately. I’m still looking for the perfect phone case. I know what I want; I just have to find it.
By the way, wasn’t it just the other day that I put up a post about the contents of my bag and mentioned that I now use my phone for music, taking notes, and keeping schedules. Well, when my phone died, it also took with it my notes and my music. Chei! It pained me. I literally cried. Igwe was looking at me like I was crazy for crying over a phone, but to God be the glory, I have recovered most of my music. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the notes. You know what sucks most about the notes? It’s that they were on an app that I could have backed up. But I didn’t back it up.
Well, I’m off to bed now. It’s almost 1:30 AM, and I have to wake up to go do hair and nails. I’ll do updates on Instagram.
Phone insurance is the best thing that has happened to me. I am on my third samsung s3 in nearly two years. first one i got was stolen, in march last year. the replacement i had to send off for repairs a couple of times with samsung luckily cos it was still under warranty. but finally my little boy dunked it in water last week. got a second replacement this monday. I had to pay a higher excess for it this second time around. but its way cheaper than getting a brand new phone. Am done with samsung. Next stop Xperia Z2. I heard its water proof.
Awww. So sorry to hear that, Kiky. I never get insurance on my phone and I usually don’t have problems. I don’t lose or break them. Oh, well.
Kiky, I don’t know much about Sony phones. And sorry for your old phone. Sometimes its the price we pay for being parents to our sweet tots. @Verastic, didn’t you say you wanted a yellow phone case for your future phone? Now, ure saying you no longer want it. I’ll fight you oh! Meanwhile, don’t you think its time you went back the traditional way of note taking? Just like me? I’m just saying cause these so-called smartphones can like to crash/ develop one fault or anothe like its not theirs to fix. Le sigh! Okay, tory too much, go to bed lovely ):
Oh, I definitely still want a yellow phone case. This one on my phone isn’t really yellow. It’s mostly navy blue, then there’s a think yellow/lime colored strip that you see.
