You guys!!! I’ve got a feel-good story for you.
So, you know how I was having a hard time writing for a few months? And then I put up that post about having writer’s block? Well, guess who came through for me? My very own Sweet Potato, Manny!
I was there jejely minding my business when she sent me an email saying she bought me a journal that she hopes will help with my writer’s block. I gave her my address and few days later, the best book ever appeared in my mailbox. It’s a journal with 300 writing prompts, and it asks some very interesting questions. Some are deep and thought-provoking, while others are shallow. I have immediate answers to some of them, and for some, I am not quite ready to confront that truth. Yet, there are some that I don’t even have answers to yet because I have not experienced what it’s asking about.
Examples of some of the questions
1. Do you have an ex that you would ever consider dating again? If not, how bad were they?
2. What do you think you are destined for in this life?
3. What are you recovering from right now?
4. Write about 3 things in your bathroom
5. Look around you and choose an object in the room. Now write something from the point of view of that object
6. Write about a time you said no
7. Describe a way a friend supported you when you needed it
8. What is standing in your way right now?
9. Have you ever had something stolen from you?
10. Write about an event going on in your life right now. But see if you can write it in the past tense.
… And it goes on and on. Like I said, there are 300 of them, so I cannot wait to answer them all. I don’t intend to go in any particular order. My plan is to open up a random page and answer a random question. And when I do, I’ll share it here – if it’s not too much.
I’ve already started answering the questions. The first one I answered is “What takes too long?” I suppose this will be a new series on the blog. You know how much I love having series on this blog. Speaking of series, the bottom of this post has a list of them cause there might be some you’re not even aware of (and might be interested in).
Ehen, so Manny made my heart Paulina-Paulina with this journal. Thank you, Manny. As you can see, it’s definitely working. Here I am writing a post about receiving the journal, and soon, I’ll be writing posts about the writing prompts. Manny, you are Bae. And when are we going on a date?
For the rest of you Sweet Potatoes, I know what you’re thinking right now: Vera, I am so sorry that I wasn’t thoughtful enough to get you something. May I buy you that Range Rover you’ve been eyeing? Or maybe the Beetle Bug that you’ve been eyeing for even longer? How about two plots of land in Ikoyi? Okay, fine, can you manage this $10,000?
My answer: I forgive you. And yes, you may present me with any of the above-mentioned gifts. I’ll manage any one of them.
That said, considering how much love and support Manny has shown me, and considering that she’s the one who sent me this journal, I think this new series should be aptly named *drumroll* The Manny Posts!
As I promised, here is a list of series you may be interested in:
4. Dear Vera
5. Journal (this has been discontinued, but you can still read past posts if you’re interested. Sometimes I feel like restarting the journals, but nahhhh)
6. iCook: I’m ashamed to say that I haven’t updated this series since June 2016, but I’ll do better. Don’t know how soon though.
I feel like there are more series, but it’s night and my brain is tired.
Manny, thank you again. You’re the best.
Sweet Potato says
Lol! Vera you’re just not a serious person. You will manage all those things en? Well, thank you Manny for thinking of our Vera for us and I look forward to reading about The Manny Posts.
Vera Ezimora says
Ehen now, I will manage them. I’m trying to be understanding oh, that’s why. Meanwhile, the first post in the series will be published tomorrow. Hope you like it.

Lol……..
I always thought manny was a guy.
I always read his comments with that knowledge in my head.
That’s what makes this post funny to me.
I’m one of those people who don’t comment but I just had to.
Funmie says
Thank you Inky!
I always thought that too…
Hallelujah! I’m not that crazy after all!
Vera Ezimora says
Lol. Funmie, please stop using Inky to make yourself feel better oh. You’re still very crazy.
Vera Ezimora says
Inky, I’m praying for you and Funmie, okay? Something is doing both of you. Lol.
