In a previous post that I now do not remember, I mentioned The Seun Akinsanya Project. I don’t know if I made a written promise or not, but I know that in my heart, I vowed to come back and tell you more about The Seun Akinsanya Project. Today is the day. But to better say what it is that I’m trying to say, I have also included audio. My hope now is that the audio does more harm than good. Don’t hurt my feelings. Tell me the audio rocks. Tell me my voice is sexy. Flattery will get you (and me) everywhere.
The Seun Akinsanya Project was founded by — guess who — Seun Akinsanya! It is a non profit organization registered right here in Maryland, USA. This is my first time being part of a non profit organization, especially as a key member. I work for The Seun Akinsanya Project as the Director of Media and Public Relations. We only started in May (April?), but since we started, we have gone to Nigeria once (in July) and visited two schools with free school supplies.
I should tell you at this point that the mission of the project is to make education more affordable for public school students in Nigeria. And we do this by providing school supplies and scholarships. Thirdly, we believe firmly in electoral education. Why all these? Because in spite of the dim lights, in spite of the current situation of things, and in spite of the degree of Nigeria’s bad belleness, we still believe in and hope for a better Nigeria.
The Seun Akinsanya Project comprises of six people: Seun Akinsanya (the Founder), Yetunde Aina (the Director of Operations and Finance), Biola Anibaba (the Vice President), Femi Osinowo (the Director of Information and Technology), Doyin Sanusi (the Secretary), and yours truly, the Director of Media and Public Relations (Oh, I said that already, didn’t I?). For all of us, this is a labor of love. Because of our passion, we have invested our money and sweat into this project. When we sent Seun to Nigeria in July, we did not solicit a penny from anyone. Everything was done out of our pockets – mostly Seun’s pocket. To God be the glory for providing.
Now, on Saturday, October 29th 2011, we will be launching The Seun Akinsanya Project here in Maryland, USA. It’s a fund-raising launch and tickets cost $25 each. I’ll be doing a sort of a speech, very minor in length, but major to me, still. There will be food, drinks, entertainment, and more. If you’re in the DMV area and would like to attend, please contact me by any means. I’d love to see you there. Oh, Verastic is also one of the official sponsors, so you’ll see Verastic’s logo on the backdrop. It’ll be Verastic’s semi coming-out party. My little girl is all grown up *INSERT WIDE GRIN*
Enjoy the audio. It’s not like you’ve heard enough of my voice on Verastically Speakin’. I hope you like it. Even if you don’t, just say you do. It’ll help me sleep better at night.
