I don’t know about you, but for me, if I was going to name anything in my life, one name I would never is Damien. I got introduced to Damien as a child. My parents were movie fanatics and they used to have every movie on VHS. My dad, especially, has a thing for scary movies, and I used to be so terrified by them, even when I was too young to understand the story line, which might explain why you now cannot get me to go see a scary movie. Nope. Won’t do it.
So I was a child when I got introduced to the demon child, Damien, from the classic scary movie, Omen. I did not know everything that was happening, but I knew he had 666 on his scalp, he was adopted, there were some dogs fighting his battle, there was a special dagger that was capable of killing him, and he was the Antichrist.
Well, this show, Damien is a continuation of the movie, Omen. Damien is 30 years old now and a war photographer. He does not know that he’s the Antichrist, and death looms around him. And there’s a new woman in his life called Ann Rutledge who says she’s his guardian and has been watching over him, and is there to help him finally start living his destiny. Just about everything from Omen is in here: the dogs, the dagger, the distant spooky voices, the 666, and mysterious deaths. It’s creepy.
I absolutely abhor scary movies, and I want to believe that I don’t like watching this Damien show, but I can’t seem to get myself to actually stop watching. I’m just curious about what happens to Damien. Does he finally start living his destiny as the Antichrist? What role exactly does Ann Rutledge play? Or in Nollywood fashion, will he give his life to Christ and become born again — after falling on the floor, shaking, seizing, and confessing?
The Damien character is played by Bradley James and Ann Rutledge is played by Barbara Hershey. It comes on every Monday at 10:00 PM Eastern on A&E. Right now, they’re only 7 episodes in, so you can catch up really quickly OnDemand. And if you’re interested, you can read more about the show here, and connect with Damien on Twitter and Facebook.
Happy watching!
P.S. Can you access the A&E channel in Nigeria? I told my mommy about this show and she, too, wants to see it.
