So Facebook is a great place to do business — I suppose. I’ve never tried to sell anything on Facebook, but if I had something to sell, I’d definitely be selling it there. I’ve seen a lot of Nigerian businesses sharing their products and services on Facebook. They show pictures and give fancy descriptions, but every time someone leaves a comment to ask, “How much?” the answer is always the same: check your inbox.
Is the price a secret? I would have thought that putting the price out there is part of the fascination and package? Or maybe not putting the price up adds to the curiosity of every other potential client/customer and leads them to ask the same price question? Literally, there’ll be like 10 consecutive comments all asking the same question and there will be 10 responses answering the same way: check your inbox.
After thinking about it, I have come up with some reasons why the prices are hidden:
1. The price is indeed a secret.
2. They don’t actually want to sell; they’re just playing with us.
3. They don’t want other retailers to “copy” their price.
4. The price depends on the person who is asking.
5. They don’t want people to price shame them on Facebook.
6. They don’t even know the price of the item.
7. The product doesn’t exist yet.
8. If they tell you the price publicly, they’re going to have to kill you.
That’s all I can think of for now. I have to admit: I have never actually left a comment inquiring of the price of an item, but that’s mostly because I already know the answer: check your inbox. The irony is that sometimes these retailers already have websites with the items and prices, so it’s not technically a secret, but somehow, when it comes to Facebook, the prices elude them.
Meanwhile, Happy Monday. Do you have plans for Christmas? What about the New Year? Have you got New Year Resolutions? I need to type a post and tell you about my year. It’s been phenomenal.

Vera, i feel you on that.
I am a member of a lot of seller association including garage sales with people of other races.
Sometimes the rationale behind this is competition, not everyone who lurks on your page really wants to buy something, it could just be a competitor who wants to know how much you are selling yours for, they will sell the same item for less and then steal your customers.
I cant think of any other reason why but that is the main point,Market is supposed to be a fair place but most sellers dont think there is enough money to go round.

I used to see that a lot with ppl selling shoes and fabric and such. I always assumed the secret was to either drum up business or keep the price away from their competitors.

I’ve asked myself that question as well! And it’s not just on Facebook pages, I’ve noticed it in a number of other businesses even private schools and a number of other businesses hide their prices and you need to make inquiries! Very frustrating!

It’s #4. Nobody wants a competitor using them to price their own wares. I don’t think it’s always a good thing sha.
