This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Zyrtec. All opinions are 100% mine.
When I was in Nigeria, I didn’t know much about alergies. I knew what it meant to be allergic to something, and I knew that there could be consequences, but it was not until I got to America that I realized just how many things people can allergic to: pollen, cats, peanut butter, shrimps, and much more.
Every time I tell people that I don’t eat shrimps, oysters, lobsters, and whatever weird shaped sea animal people eat, the conclusion is always that I am allergic. But I’m not. I just don’t like strange seafood. I’ve always been under the impression that I don’t have any allergies at all. African people don’t have allergies, right? Wrong.
Turns out, I do have an allergy. And it’s seasonal. Mine happens with constant, unending teary eyes. Everyone knows me for my teary eyes. I remember a few years ago I went to see a school counselor in college to discuss my options for a major I was considering. I don’t remember what major it was, but I know that at the end of the conversation, I knew it wasn’t a major I could go for, and I was a little sad. Silmutaneously, my eyes began to water and tears came rolling down my cheeks. The counselor thought I was crying, and she said, “Do not despair. Everything will be okay.” I did not bother telling her that it was not what it looked like.
The most annoying part of my teary eyes is how it messes my makeup up. I’m constantly dabbing a tissue in my eye to soak up the tears and stop them from rolling down my face. I don’t have any specific beauty methods for combating my teary eyes, but I have had to alter my makeup routine by not applying anything on my eyes because I’m so afraid that it will aggravate the allergies. I have also had to switch my tissue brand to get one with the least dust (and is lotion treated). When all else fails, I wear sunglasses. I don’t know how it does it, but it helps me look better.
Zyrtec helps you feel better by relieving the symptoms of your allergies, and it does this FAST. It’s also available over the counter, which in my opinion is beyond awesome because the last thing I want to do is go visit my physician and wait to get a prescription – while still suffering. Zyrtec is nice enough to provide us with Allergy Face, beauty tips to combat the allergies. Watch the short video below to see the tips to help you look better;
Check out the survey below. Surprised or shocked? Or both, maybe? I am pleasantly surprised to find out that a whopping 40% of women wear oversized sunglasses to cover the puffy face. I do that all the time; in fact, I just did it today inside the store. And I’m shocked at the throw-away-make-up timeline. Foundation should be thrown away every six months? I have been doing it all wrong. I have never, ever followed any of the timelines.
You can (and should) find out more about Zyrtec and how it can make you feel and look better on their Facebook Page here: Check out Zyrtec on Facebook . Also, find out more about Allergy Face. Don’t forget to tell us what you do to combat your allergies, especially the puffy face.

I struggle with allergies and use Zyrtec, also the beauty bag blunders illustration is apt but I find it hard to let go of my makeup when I know how much I spent on it lol.

My darling!!! How now? LOL at letting your makeup go. Yeah, I can totally relate. But I have started letting them go, more because I don’t use them much anyway, so they’re just sitting there collecting dust. My shocker is the one about throwing foundation away after six months. Lai lai. It will not happen oh.

I have allergies (IN NIGERIA) and Benadryl’s my preferred choice because it works fast and puts me to sleep. I’m using Zyrtec now because my parents got it mistakenly and I have to take 2 tablets for it to even begin considering thinking about working… and when it eventually does, after 4 hours (rolls eyes), it takes 24 hours to wear off.
I wish I could find something that wouldn’t put me to sleep, but would combat the allergies in 30 mins or less.

Awww. I’m so sorry to hear that, Berry. I hope you get that situation sorted out fast. If Benadryl is what works for you best, then you should totally stick to it.

Zyrtec and Benadryl also works well when you have a cold and the sniffles can’t seem to go away. My doctor told me once that you can develop allergy depending on where you live. It can also worsen your symptoms depending on where you live.

Adabeke! Where have you been??? I saw your brother in law in Florida. Hope you’re well sha. I didn’t know the bit about developing allergies depending on where you live. Interesting.
