I say murder. We might have a verdict on this case as early as today. As much as I’d like to say that George Zimmerman is guilty because I feel it, the fact is that feelings ain’t never convicted anyone. Well, that’s not completely true. In fact, completely untrue. So I will say that considering the phone conversation between George Zimmerman and the police where he was clearly told to back down and he refused to, I’d say he went there with more zeal than he intended.
Now, do I think that when George Zimmerman left his house that day, he intended to kill someone? No, not at all. But when the opportunity presented itself, he went above and beyond to escalate it. I do not believe that Trayvon Martin was the aggressor, and I do not believe that George Zimmerman acted in self defense.
Also, I really hate to play the race card, but one cannot help but wonder how this case would have played out if the killer was Black and the victim was White? Race card aside, George Zimmerman did wrong. He used power he did not have to create a permanent solution to a problem that might not even have existed.
I’ll be surprised if George Zimmerman gets convicted of second degree murder, not because I don’t believe he deserves it (and more), but because shit happens, and all it takes is one doubtful member of the jury. Plus, the defense has done a good job of creating reasonable doubt. There are things, I assume, the jury knows that we, the public, do not know. but I hope that he at least gets manslaughter and the maximum sentence for it.
No matter what the outcome of this case is, the family of Trayvon Martin would unfortunately still be missing a son and brother. May the soul of Trayvon Martin rest in perfect peace.

I love you Vera. So true. This situation is so complex, heartbreaking, and just downright ugly.
My hope is that Zimmerman is not acquitted because that ish will just be ugly….
