Butter Me Up And Call Me A Biscuit

When I was in Nigeria, there were only two ways I knew how to eat corn: roasted (called grilled in America) or boiled. With boiled corn, the only ingredient I knew to put on it was salt (while cooking). And it tasted good, honestly. But one day in America, I ordered some food at a restaurant, and I was asked what side I wanted it to come with. Corn on a cob was one of the options, so I ordered it. When the corn came with butter and black pepper on it, I was not too happy. But then, I tasted it, and all my worry melted away like butter on hot corn. Yes, I had to go there.

When I got the opportunity to write about LAND O LAKES® Butter with Canola Oil, there was only one food I wanted to use it on: boiled corn! I boiled a total of 6 ears of corn, but Igwe came home from work starving and dove right into it. The butter was sitting on the counter, and before I knew what was going on, he had buttered 4 out of 6 ears of corn, and was eating like he hadn’t seen food in days. I salvaged the remaining two.

When I picked up this product at the store, I read the front of it and was immediately impressed. It has only 3 simple ingredients: sweet cream, canola oil, and salt. What?!? I was struck by the fact that I could pronounce and understand all of them. This is much more than most spreads and spreadable butter products in the market. Some of them have up to 15 ingredients. I don’t know about you, but that was a big deal for me.

Although not shown in the pictures, I tried the ultimate butter test (for me). I tried to spread it on bread, and it worked! And it tasted great, too.. It may sound silly to you, but I still eat bread and butter and nothing else, so I need to be able to spread it onto the bread, even when I just bring it out from the fridge. Ever tried to spread butter straight from the fridge and it doesn’t even leave the knife? That’s happened to me, too, but with this LAND O LAKES® Butter with Canola Oil, it just glided on smoothly (and the bread wasn’t warm).
