It turns out that apart from tax breaks, procreation, and guilt-free sex, there are actually other reasons to get married. Surprised? Me, too! So, I was reading my bible the other day, and I came across an interesting verse in the book of Deuteronomy (Chapter 24 verse 5): “If a man has recently married, he must not be sent to war or have any other duty laid on him. For one year, he is to be free to stay at home and bring happiness to the wife he has married.”
Wait. I feel the urgent need to stress the important part of this verse: “…For one year, he is to be free to stay at home and bring happiness to the wife he has married.”
GBAM!
One whole year of happiness … being brought … to me! I hope my future husband, wherever he may be, is reading this right now. When we get married, he will stay home with me for one whole year — and do nothing but bring me happiness. Happiness upon happiness. A happy woman, as they say, makes a happy home. When you think about it, he’s really doing it for his own good because he, too, will enjoy the happy home.
For one year, my husband will stay home with me, and every morning I wake up, I may decide to redefine happiness. Whatever the new definition is, he is obligated to indulge me. Happiness might come in the form of a Range Rover Sport. It might come in the form of Jimmy Choo shoes. It might come in the form of a trip to the Caribbeans. Or maybe a Michael Kors bag. Or a brand new house in Lekki (I hear that’s a good area in Lagos). Shoot, I might even want a private jet! I wonder if I should get married on a leap year. That way, I’ll have one extra day of pure, unadulterated, uninterrupted happiness!
Now, is anyone else wondering what the bible meant by happiness?

Kenn_Knotty: Mouth-watering expectation ehn? Okay oh! Kenn, you have dared the lioness. And the lioness shall perform. Okay, a little dramatic maybe. LOL. But prepare yourself for that special, mouth-watering post. And it better be mouth-watering when I'm done.
His Treasure: It's because of the love I have for him that I have planned it oh! It's because I intend to love my husband kpata kpata, that is why I have gone ahead and made such promising plans for us both.
2Cute4U: Na you know ooo! The thing I want must present itself in the market, one way or another because I must buy it, and I must have it. Yes, ke!
.Issey, Uche: I want all of the above — plus more. And he has to start by proving them in the first year (while he's some with me at all times).
Dami B: Will do! As you have requested, so shall it be. You'll be very surprised o!
FFF: My sister, thank you very much oh jare. Don't mind Afrobabe. She's a man woman. I'm tired of telling her that already. LOL @ bar beach.

i think that the Bible says that happiness comes from holiness. My source of happiness is from knowing that God loves me and has forgiven my sins, and loves me unconditionally.
Here’s a verse I like from 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18:
Be joyful always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances. That is God’s will for you in Jesus Christ.
I thank God that He has given me a reason to be joyful always, no matter the material circumstances, because He died for me. What material blessing can top that?? That’s amazing love, isn’t it?
Let’s face it. Any love that our spouse can show us falls short when compared to God’s love. The more we can know about God’s love, the more we can learn about love (because God is love: 1 John 4:8). And then we can love each other even more 🙂
God bless you guys . . . I’m glad to see people are still reading Bibles nowadays.

Hey Dean!!!
I’m with you on love. God is indeed love. I don’t know if I can ever truly comprehend his love for me. But I know I can surely try. Thanks for reading. And of course, we still read the bible 🙂
