Today is D-Day! As you’re reading this, I might already be in San Jose. I typed the post last night and scheduled it to come up today. It has been so hectic. I took off from my 9-5 job today so I could spend a couple hours getting ready for traveling. I ended up spending the entire day getting ready. Before I tell you about my day, I wanna show you my media kit. Woooot! I made it myself. It’s two pages, and yes, I am giving it out in the slashed pocket folder. All na packaging abi? And can you see my business card tucked in there also? Looovvvveeee it!
First, I went to get my hair done. My appointment was for 11:00 AM. The hairstylist didn’t get there (her salon) till 11:15. I know it’s only 15 minutes, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. I don’t think I’ll be going back there (and this was my first time there). Then she had to do my hair twice because the first time, I looked like something was growing out of my head. I told her to undo it and take it back some more. When she was done, I looked like a pineapple. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it either. I should say that between that time and right this moment, I like it a little more. I put a picture of myself on Instagram and Facebook. [Like and follow along].
Then I went to get my nails done. The girl who usually does it wasn’t there, but her sisters were. One of them did the pedicure but couldn’t give me a fill in because she doesn’t know how to. So her sister was going to do it, but her 2:00 PM appointment came in before I was done with my pedicure. I had the option of either waiting for her to be done or having her husband do it. I waited. That was 45 minutes of playing Dots on my phone. Her husband has done my nails once and I did not like it. So those are my nails below. You like? I had her round the shape (instead of the spherical one I usually have). Jury is still out on whether I love it or like it. Leaning toward love — for now.
These are the things I packed. I’m finally going to start reading Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I actually deliberately didn’t start it because I was hoping to do so while traveling. Hopefully, I actually read it. I’m really tired, so I might sleep through the entire flight. And yes, those are granola bars in my luggage. I ain’t playing.
Follow along on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter for my live updates. And pray for me ooo , that this BlogHer Conference is a success (even beyond my wildest imagination), so I can come back and buy everyone a Maserati, as Pendo said.
San Jose, here I come!
Pendo says

Next time I travel, I need to make sure to include that people should let me know if they want to meet.

Love the nails. Btw how long do they last? Is it gel? My nail polish never last for more than 2 days at the most before they start chipping off 🙁
Vera Ezimora says
Hey Chi-Chi,
Thanks!! I don’t have any extension on my nails (length is all mine), but I do have acrylic on it because it’s the only way it can keep the polish for more than 2 days. I used to just use nail polish on my natural nails, but it’s too much trouble and too expensive to change my nails every two days. Some people prefer the nail polish, but it’s more expensive and I have no problem with my acrylic.
I blogged about this a while ago. Maybe people’s comments and suggestions might help? http://verastic.com/fb/im-in-crisis-mode.html
Chi-chi says
Wow at the length is all yours! Mine are the complete opposite. Think I’ll be trying the acrylic sometime. Thanks!!!
