In my last post, I promised to come back one day and talk about what being rich and famous means to me. Well, forty-eight whole hours later, that day has come. I may be wrong, but I think it is everyone’s – or most people’s – aspiration to be rich. This is sometimes called being comfortable or being wealthy. Whatever it may be called, I think the general interpretation is that we all want to be financially saturated. Okay, ‘financially saturated’ seems to further complicate the definition. But I’ll tell you what it means to me in simple words.
Being rich and famous means the following to me (individually and collectively):
1. It means having enough to be able to wake up on a Tuesday morning and go shopping on a whim – not because I need the items right now, not because there is a sale, and not because I just got paid. But just because.
2. It means going on vacation on Monday — without having to apply for off days — that may or may not be approved by the boss — and will negatively affect my salary at the end of the month.
3. It means people knowing my name and what I do for a living, but not ever knowing more than I want them to know.
4. It means spending the weekend in Abu Dhabi because I’m bored and shopping in Paris because I can.
5. It means waking up on Thursday and deciding that I’d rather work from home and having no one to answer to.
6. It means having a personal assistant to make all my appointments and follow up on my stuff.
7. It means having as many home employees as I deem fit: nanny, help, gardener, gate man, driver… and err, husband.
8. It means attending my children’s functions, be it a basketball practice, sitting on Santa’s laps, or selling their fallen tooth to the imaginary tooth fairy.
9. It means having enough food to feed my three boys: husband and confusingly identical twin boys.
10. It means being able to surprise my husband at any time for no reason.
11. It means always having a fridge full of food.
12. It means having a house big enough to fit me, my husband, our children, our house employees, and any guests we may have.
13. It means having a closet big enough to be an apartment.
14. It means wining and dining with Pete Edochie, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Hilda Dokubo, Oprah, Liz Benson, Chinua Achebe, Simon Cowell, Adele, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Timi Dakolo, Emem Issong, TY Bello, 2Face Idibia, Adol, and Barack Obama. Michelle can come, too.
15. It means having way more than 30 bottles of perfume.
16. It means owning all the businesses I currently dream of owning.
17. It means building a bigger hospital for dad, and buying a bigger SUV for mom. (As little as she is, she loves big vehicles).
18. It means taking my friends – especially Funmie and Uju – on a shopping spree and not shivering at the items they pick.
19. It means having more money than I have budgeted to spend.
20. It means being relevant and timeless in every area of my life.
21. It means also being known in the heavenly realm of life, and having God answer me seven times when I call Him only once.
22. It means standing boldly in the face of those that did/do not believe in me and saying to them, “Look at me now.”
23. It means employing those people – the ones that did/do not believe in me.
24. It means positively changing the lives of everyone that comes in contact with me.
25. It means having a happy husband and disciplined children.
26. It means owning two healthy German Shepherd dogs.
27. It means having a make-up artist, a stylist, a trainer, and a hair dresser – all at my personal disposal – regardless of what anyone may think of it.
28. It means making money while I’m sleeping.
29. It means people I do not know go above and beyond to favor me.
30. It means having people I know and do not know lift my name up in prayers to God.
31. It means my husband being the luckiest man on earth.
32. It means being Verastic outside and wife and mother inside.
33. It means owning all the Sony gadgets I want – whether or not I need them or know how to use them.
34. It means remaining humble no matter how rich or famous I become.
35. It means not panicking when I get a bill.
36. It means not working just to pay bills and having nothing in savings.
37. It means having someone run my errands. Can’t stand meat markets. Yuck.
38. It means having bras, underwears, scarves, and shoes in all colors.
39. It means always having something to blog about.
40. Finally, it means being me. Everyday. All day.
I’m sure there are more. I just haven’t thought about them yet.

Wow, long list! I don’t want to be famous and have people all up in your business with former classmates from school who you didn’t talk to, suddenly selling your story to the tabloids (shivers). I would like to have enough money so that my parents wouldn’t struggle anymore and my Mum wouldn’t sleep 3 hrs a day working the night shift.
Vera Ezimora says
LOL @ former classmates and the likes. Well, those people will always come anyway, even if you’re not famous. But I believe that I can handle it (them) all. And I am sooooo with you on the mom part.

Nice list there….numbers 20, 30 and 34 do it for me.
Number 34 is very very key, U never know how difficult it is to maintain the humility…..and I mean it, it can be very difficult.
Anyways, may God help us.

@Pelli, I have met a lot of people who for whatever reason just think they’re the best thing to walk the face of the earth. No matter what a person has, someone somewhere always has more. If someone else doesn’t have more yet, then it will happen soon enough. I just want to be my regular self, no matter how much I make.

I am giving a testimony of how i become rich and famous today… i was deeply strangled up by poverty and i had no body to help me, and also i search for help from different corners but to no avail… i see people around me getting rich but to me i was so ashamed of my self so i met a man on my way he was very rich and he was a doctor so he told me something and i think over it though out the day so the next day i looked up and i keep repeating what he said to me.
” if you want to get rich quick and be famous”
you need to cross your heart and do what is in your mind
So i tried all i could in other for me to do as he said so later on i told my fellow friend about this same thing then my friend was interested in my suggestions so i decided to look in the internet and i found an email address of this great fraternity(churchofdevililluminati@gmail.com) so we decided to contact them and unfortunately we did as they instruct us to do and later they told us to get some requirements and all the rest… so this initiation took us just a week and later on the great fraternity gave us $30,000,000.00 to start up our lives…. and now am testifying that if in any case you want to join any great fraternity all you need to do is for you to contact them because they are legitimate and they do as what they instructed them to do okay so email them now at (churchofdevililluminati@gmail.com) or you can call them now +2347056024545 they will respond to you okay… regards!!.
