This Friday, my sole mission was to finally watch John Cater. I rented it from RedBox and settled in to watch it. Boooorrrrrrriiiiiiiinnnnnnnnngggggggg. I kept waiting for it to get interesting. But before I started watching it, Igwe and I went out to eat dinner. He kept saying he wanted a big meal. Is it something I can cook? No, it’ll take too long. Do you want Chinese? No. Italian? No. Jamaican? No. Soul food? No. Seafood? No. We ended up with soul food. Good thing he said no at first.
We went to the same soul food restaurant we went to the other time where I ordered Fettuccine Alfredo. This time, I ordered *drum roll* a sub and fries. Igwe ordered – don’t remember the name, but it included half a barbecue chicken, half a rack of barbecue ribs, and fries. But before the food came, I had eaten a plate of salad, some soup, and drank half my coke.
My food before I ate
My food after eating. So I basically only ate half of my sub.
He only ate the rib and the fries. The chicken came home with us.
While we waited for our food, I listened as four elderly women chatted about life. One said, “I’m the middle child,” and the other said, “Oh, that’s why you be acting the way you do.” And they kept talking about other things: people in church, whose marriage is breaking up, etc. I pictured myself doing the same thing with my friends. May God keep us all.
The thing about this restaurant is that it is really cheap. This crazy amount of food did not cost us an arm and a leg. The receipt is below, and the address is on it too, in case you’re in the Baltimore area and you feel like trying it out.
And the total included gratuity! Wooooot!
Saturday: It was Day 2 of watching John Cater. The movie was so long and boring that I couldn’t finish it on Friday. Igwe and I planned on going to see a movie, but there was nothing that we felt like watching. Plus it was sooooo hot outside, so it was one heck of a lazy day. Before we knew it, it was time to sleep.
Sunday: Church. Home. More John Cater. I finally finished it! Then I watched the BET Awards. I have some comments about it, but I haven’t typed up the post yet. Hopefully, the post will be up before the next BET Awards. This is what I wore to church on Sunday, and I already posted it before in my All Marci’d Up post.
So, how was your weekend?
