Take a very close look at the pictures below and tell me what is wrong with them.
Did you find what’s wrong with the pictures? Probably not, so I’ll tell you. These are mega rich footballers attending a charity event at Old Trafford. And look at what they are wearing!! Sure, this was the dress code, but they could have accessorized, no? I cannot tell what they are wearing by looking at their clothes, but let it be my people. The difference will be very clear.
The women will wear their shoes and make sure you see the red bottoms (*cough* Yvonne Nelson), and they will make sure you see all their name brand items. The men will not step out without their Hermes belt and Gucci shoes. The people who really, really have it don’t go out of their way to show you that they have it. You just know that they do. Those who scramble to get it, however, will make sure that you see it by all means.
And this is what I wonder every time I read news of a Nollywooder acquiring a new car. From Range Rovers to Infinitis to Toyotas, they are all headline news. And yet, here we are with footballers who make millions a year, and they are not bending over backwards to tell us how much they have.
Nigerian stars, I throway yansh for all of you.

Nne, I follow you to troway…. well…. let’s just be content with trowaying ya own yansh ok. One is enough.
But for real though, I was saying the other day on twitter that those who actually have IT can loose it all and still regain it because they earned it, however, those who stumbled upon IT by mistake continue to act like it’s their birthright (those would be the notice mes we see in Nollywood)
Case in point Mark Zuckerberg(or however he spells his name). Wears the same shirt and jeans everyday, yet he’s richer than all of us who refuse to wear the same shirt in the same month

How true!
It’s so sad and funny too to see Nigerian and African ‘celebrities’ forcing you to know about their lives whilst their counterparts in the West are the ones running away (some) from the press and people trying to know their ‘bidness’.
Those born into wealth or as you said who work hard for it, tend to be more chilled about it and it is very true. My own opinion.

Ani, I have noticed that too! African celebs will take pictures of themselves with their Blackberries and send it to the press (blogs) who will now publish it as, “Mary spotted on the streets of London.” *hiss*
Vera Ezimora says
Nolly, I’m completely with you, although I don’t know why we must throway only my own yansh. Lol. You can always tell the people that are just dying to be noticed. I know they say you should flaunt it when you have it, but their own pass flaunting.
Mark Zuckerburg is a beast. As in! How can someone so rich be so simple? I guess while peeps are taking pictures of themselves in their brand name items and posting them on Fcebook, he’s busy collecting the money and wearing the same outfit. Imagine!

SAY THAT!

You have said well ……. Nigerians & their notice me behaviour.
Vera Ezimora says
It’s a bad, bad thing. It’s the mentality of poverty , I tell you.

Brand names don’t trip me…. I don’t know why.
I lie, I know why – I am cheap.
Why would I spend $600 on a pair of shoe… I dey craze??
My grandma n aunty n uncle n cousin n aburo”s will pray for me daily if I throw that kinda money to them for no reason.
Vera Ezimora says
Fufu, I get where you are coming from, but it’s all relative. If you had money like Oprah, then $600 on a pair of shoes would be normal. And in that case, you won’t be dashing your family $600 for no reason. You’ll be giving them thousands.
