On Tuesday, it was all over the news that the perfect Angelina Jolie was seen walking the red carpet with “white face.” I didn’t really think too much of it. I didn’t pay it much attention until it was revealed why she had white face: her makeup artist used the wrong finishing powder. She used the HD finishing powder for film, instead of the finishing powder for flash cameras. I was intrigued, but I didn’t realize how intrigued I was until I went to bed that night and dreamt about Angelina Jolie’s powder. No kidding.<\/p>\n

You know what intrigued me? It was the fact that as much as I love makeup, I had no idea that there was any such thing as a finishing powder made specifically for film and\/or camera flash. I don’t even own any finishing powder – not because I don’t know of it, but because the very first time a Lancome makeup artist made my face up, she told me that I did not need to use anything on top of my foundation. I considered it a compliment then, but as I grow older, I’m learning more and more that makeup isn’t always about covering anything up. Sometimes, it’s just about highlighting what you already have.<\/p>\n

So I went searching for this makeup finishing powder, and I found one from the Make Up For Ever brand, sold exclusively at Sephora. According to the description of this powder,<\/p>\n

“This industry-recognized luxe finishing powder sets the foundation and slightly mattifies skin without changing its natural contours. Made of 100 percent-mineral silica, it softens the appearance of imperfections, fine lines, and pores and completely evens out the complexion for a glowing, radiant look. It retails for $34<\/strong><\/a>, and I am seriously considering buying it – which I know sounds crazy, considering that the inspiration for this post is Angelina Jolie’s powder disaster – which, in my opinion, is not a disaster — because well, Angelina Jolie can do no wrong in my eyes (except that one time she fell in love with someone’s else’s husband and had 6 children with him).<\/p>\n

Seriously, my biggest problem about Angelina Jolie’s alleged powder disaster is that I didn’t know anything about this finishing powder, and I now feel the need to explore it. Have you tried this powder before?<\/p>\n
