I remember when there was a lot of heavy promotion for Bravo TV’s new reality series, Blood, Sweat, \u00a0& Heels<\/em>. I didn’t pay it too much mind, but then, when I discovered that one of the stars of the show – Demetria Lucas – is a blogger, I became determined to watch it at least once. I’m usually instantly interested in things that relate to bloggers.<\/p>\n

So I finally watched the show on Sunday night. I didn’t go to bed till about 3am because I \u00a0binge-watched all the episodes on OnDemand (there were only 6 episodes and I didn’t have to go to work on Monday, thanks to President’s Day). \u00a0The show has six female stars: Brie Bythewood, Daisy Lewellyn (34), Geneva S. Thomas (30), Melyssa Ford (36), Mica Hughes (40s), and Demetria Lucas (34).<\/p>\n

I’m still learning about the ladies’ personalities, but so far, Demetria is my favorite, and I can’t decide my least favorite between Mica and Melyssa. I only feel this way about them because of their knack for getting drunk and misbehaving publicly, especially Mica. But I’m new to the show, so my opinion of them will likely change when I find an area that I can relate to them.<\/p>\n

It was in the first episode that I started liking Demetria. She reminded me so much of me in many ways, even physically. She has that kind of face that looks like you shouldn’t come to her unless you have something intelligent to say and her face is always very expressive. I have recently learned that my face looks this way. I’ll blog about it later.<\/p>\n

In the first episode, there was a conversation about snooping. Two of the ladies – Geneva and Daisy – said that snooping is okay and that sometimes you just have to snoop, and Mica said she had snooped on her current boyfriend. Demetria said that she did not see the need or point of snooping because if you don’t trust your man, you shouldn’t be with him anyway. I. Completely. Agree.<\/p>\n

Demetria blogged about this conversation – because you know, that’s what we – bloggers- do and some of the ladies – Geneva especially – were not pleased with this. Demetria said she has never snooped before, and I believe her, but I will admit, I have snooped before. I understand why a woman will snoop initially. I understand how it is when we have an intuition or a gut feeling and we won’t rest until we follow our gut feeling. I understand wanting to know who Jane Doe is and why she texted him at 11:30 pm and why she feels comfortable calling him, boo<\/em>. But what I don’t understand is why you find out that he is indeed cheating (or doing something very inappropriate) and still stay — only to snoop another day.<\/p>\n

I guess for me, I feel like if you’re going to snoop or bother catching him doing something, then you better follow with something drastic … like breaking up with him. Anyway, Demetria was so strong in her opinion about there being no need to stay with a man you do not or cannot trust, and I could not help but give her a mental standing ovation and a loud – also mental – Yaaaasssss, honey!<\/em><\/p>\n

Demetria was accused of being cold towards the plight of a woman scorned, and I have been told the same thing. Still, I haven’t changed my mind. I don’t expect everyone to be the same level of anything, but there is a kind of weakness in a woman that I just loathe. The kind of weakness that is as a result of a man, or weakness toward a man (to her own detriment), I don’t understand it.<\/p>\n

When Igwe and I first became serious and committed about our relationship, I told him in the most certain way that I will not chase him. I will not beg him to stay. I will not run after him to find out who he’s doing either (because who has that kind of time), but when I do find out, we will be over, and I will treat him like we never even happened (you know, like my other exes). By God’s grace, we will never come to this. The way I see it, I can do bad all by myself. I don’t need anyone else making things difficult for me because I can do it all by myself.<\/p>\n

And it is for this reason that I admire you, Demetria Lucas. Maybe we’ll meet some day.<\/p>\n
