I don’t even know if this is a real question because I think I already know the answer. So my birthday is in 12 days (January 14th. Who no know go know) and back in November, I decided that I would host a game night in my house. \u00a0The thing is, I never do anything for my birthday. I don’t even buy myself gifts. The last time I did something for my birthday was two years ago, and that’s because Igwe planned me a surprise birthday dinner<\/a>\u00a0[pictures included]<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

So for this year, the plan was to be different. I set the date a while ago – January 18th, and I already put the games in my Amazon cart, to be ordered later. I also made a guest list and took notes about what to include in my invitation texts and e-mails (like please don’t bring extra guests. I’ll blog about this later). I even already made plans for the food and drinks, which I now have to cancel. However, now that the date is approaching, I’m beginning to rethink this my birthday game night thing.<\/p>\n

I have been having \u00a0serious conversations with myself. Like …<\/p>\n

1.<\/strong> \u00a0Vera, do you really want ALL those people in your house?<\/p>\n

2.<\/strong> \u00a0Vera, you do know you can have a game night anytime (and it doesn’t have to be on or for your birthday), right?<\/p>\n

3.<\/strong> \u00a0Vera, what are you going to get yourself for your birthday?<\/p>\n

4.<\/strong> \u00a0Vera, you mean to tell me that instead of giving your closet a makeover like you’ve been saying you want to do, you will use the money for game night? Really???<\/p>\n

So, at this point, the game night thing is less likely to happen. I have not totally crossed it out, but I am starting to see reason for why I should spend the money on myself instead. Yes, I’m greedy like that, and no, I don’t mind being greedy at all. It’s my money, and I’m spending it on myself.<\/p>\n

The thing is, I have never been good at having a crowd at my house, although I do enjoy it very much at other people’s house. I am quite anal, and so I spend my time staring at people and giving them the look when they spill soda on the table (and don’t look like they are about to clean it up). No, I’m kidding, I don’t stare at them (but it does irk me a little<\/del> lot).<\/p>\n

When I told Igwe that I was starting to reconsider my birthday game night party, he did not waste any time in supporting its cancellation. Guess I now know how he really felt about it. Actually, even when I first told him of my plans to have a game night party, he kept asking if I was sure I wanted to have people in the house (because according to him, I don’t like people. Lies!)<\/p>\n

Whatever my decision is at the end, I know that for this birthday, I intend to treat myself like royalty. Because I am.<\/p>\n

P.S.<\/strong> I’ll most likely still have a game night in my house, but maybe not for my birthday. And if not for my birthday, then it’ll be a small crowd.<\/p>\n
