Mitsubishi Endeavor – not Uju’s actual car, but it looks exactly like this in a darker color.<\/p><\/div>\n

Yesterday, Uju and I went to the car\u00a0dealership to purchase a car for her. She had been looking for a car forever, so yesterday, we went to check one out, all the way in Rockville. I wasn’t even home from work yet when she called me and asked if I could accompany her. I did not know the location of the dealership, but I agreed to go with her. I had plans to come home and tend to my hair (shampoo, deep conditioner, the works) and relax. But alas, it was not meant to be.<\/p>\n

It took us a little over an hour to finally get to the dealership under intense sunshine. When we finally got there, we were able to check out the car Uju came for (a Mitsubishi Endeavor). We took it for a test drive a couple of miles out. It sounded good. We checked some other things, too, and I’ll list them here for you:<\/p>\n

1.<\/strong> \u00a0The mp3 port – where was it located?<\/p>\n

2.<\/strong> \u00a0The CD player – how many did it take?<\/p>\n

3.<\/strong> \u00a0The air conditioner – did it work?<\/p>\n

4.<\/strong> \u00a0The arm rest – how do you open it?<\/p>\n

5.<\/strong> \u00a0The\u00a0rear view\u00a0camera – how did it work? And was it dependable?<\/p>\n

6.<\/strong> \u00a0The rims – where they shiny?<\/p>\n

7.<\/strong> \u00a0The sun roof – did it open?<\/p>\n

8.<\/strong> \u00a0The dashboard pocket – where do we store our change?<\/p>\n

9.<\/strong> \u00a0The trunk – was it big enough?<\/p>\n

10.<\/strong> \u00a0The back seat – did it have enough leg room?<\/p>\n

11.<\/strong> \u00a0The body – did it have any dents or scratches?<\/p>\n

After going back and forth with the salesman on how much to pay, we finally came to an agreement on a price. Who knew buying a car could be so strenuous? By the time we signed all the documents, activated insurance, and drove home, it was so late. I was sleepy and hungry, and I wasn’t completely sure which one I wanted to do first.<\/p>\n

When we got to Uju’s house, her brother came out to inspect the car. He opened the hood to look underneath it. And that was when we realized that we never for once opened the hood to look at what lay inside and underneath this car. As I type this post, we don’t even know where the hood thingy is to pop it open. We just cared about all the other stuff. Engine? What’s that? And since when did a car start needing that?<\/p>\n

We took a deep breath when we remembered that Uju has more than enough warranty on the car. And we learned a valuable lesson: she and I will most likely never go into the business of selling cars. But then again, never say never.<\/p>\n

P.S.<\/strong> I do realize that the technically correct term for this vehicle is SUV, but car<\/em> is so much easier to say (and write).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
