It’s been a while since I did a weekend recount, I know. That’s because nothing has really been happening. Either that or I don’t take pictures at the event. Well, this weekend was a little better.<\/p>\n

Friday:<\/strong> I attended an engagement ceremony. Yorubas call this an Engagement<\/em>. As an Igbo girl, it’s more like a traditional wedding<\/em>. But every time I call it a wedding, people ask me, ‘what wedding?’<\/em> So okay, I’m sticking to engagement<\/em> then. I didn’t take pictures at this wedding<\/del> engagement, but I did meet several Verastic readers, and it was AWESOME! It was nice meeting you, ladies!! Keep reading, and thank you so much for the support \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n

Saturday:<\/strong> My friend, Busola, turned 30. I’ve known her for over a decade. In high school, I used to call her Sola (Busola, without the Bu<\/em>). But now, I call her Solachi<\/em>. The chi<\/em> is there to make her name Igbo. The alternative is Solachukwu<\/em>, but I like Solachi better. When I first met Solachi, she was a teenager, and now, she’s 30, married, and a mommy of two. When I think of the fact that I have friends who are 30 and above, it’s freaky. Although I am not 30 yet, I can see 30 from a distance. And walahi, I still think I’m 21. I’m gonna ask my mom, just to make sure she didn’t mistakenly dash<\/em> me some years. These things happen, no?<\/p>\n

So that was how my weekend went. It was really, really nice being with everyone. We’re all so busy with life, so having the opportunity to hang out again, especially to celebrate, is always a blessing.<\/p>\n

Solachi, happy birthday. I wish you long life, health, prosperity, and all the happiness in the world. I am so happy for you. You deserve all the joy in the world and much more.<\/p>\n
