Maybe they don&#8217;t want to be celebrities per se, but there is a certain kind of good feeling that comes with having more Facebook friends and more comments and likes on Facebook pictures and statuses. Well, here comes the Like-a-Hug Vest. What it does is simple, normal, and expected: it inflates whenever someone likes you on Facebook (comments, pictures, etc). Normal. What did you expect?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/verastic.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Facebook-Like-Coat.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4277\" title=\"Facebook Like Coat\" src=\"https:\/\/verastic.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Facebook-Like-Coat.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"250\" srcset=\"https:\/\/verastic.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Facebook-Like-Coat.jpg 500w, https:\/\/verastic.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Facebook-Like-Coat-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to the inventor, Melissa Chow, <em>&#8220;We came up with the concept over a casual conversation about long-distance relationships and the limitations of video chat\u00a0interfaces like Skype. The concept of telepresence\u00a0arose, and we toyed with the idea of receiving hugs via wireless\u00a0technology. The result was Like-A-Hug. Connecting it to Facebook conceptually was simply a way to explore how social media might push past the traditional graphic user interface (GUI).&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Look at it this way: When someone likes you on Facebook, only people who are on Facebook will have knowledge of it &#8230; cause of course, you have to be on Facebook to know what is going on in the Facebook world. This coat, however, changes everything. When you have this coat on, \u00a0every time someone likes you on Facebook, the coat will inflate &#8230; by itself. Like, you could be trying to run away from a threat, and you find a little hole to crawl into, but just as you are about to go in, someone likes your <em>stuff<\/em> on Facebook, and poof! Your coat inflates, so all of a sudden, you can&#8217;t fit into the hole that would have saved your life. You have to now dedicate 45 seconds &#8211; I&#8217;m assuming &#8211; to deflating your coat.<\/p>\n<p>So maybe the probability of this exact scene reenacting itself is slim to none, but coats inflated by Facebook likes? Yeah, okay.
