Yesterday, a twitter fight broke out between Tonto Dike and her fans. Apparently, she dared to tweet about her new song. Fans (or maybe not fans) were not happy. They criticized her for being an actor who is trying to sing. I’m still stuck on her being referred to as an actor<\/em>. But a singer, too? Yeah, whatever. Anyway, that is not even the point. The point for me – and consequently the reason why I’m vexing – is that I cannot understand a friggin’ tweet. Is it just me?<\/p>\n

“Really weren’t WORTHY it…?”<\/em> Okay, Tonto, I’m getting you.<\/p>\n

I read some of her tweets, and I did not have to go far to quit. I understand abbreviations, especially on Twitter where you’re only allowed 140 characters to speak your mind, but what exactly is the sense in spelling best as BEZT<\/em>? Do you know how long it took me to figure that out?!<\/p>\n

And why, oh, why are Nigerian celebrities – not all of them, of course – fond of talking about the money they have? How much are we talking? Oprah has millions – maybe billions even- and in dollars, and I never, ever, EVER hear her talking about all the money she has or how broke everyone else is. This is how you know that Nigeria really\u00a0has a poor mentality.<\/p>\n

And I don’t think that Tonto is a great actress. I don’t even think that she is a good actress. There are only two things she is good at – and I say good<\/em> cautiously – and they are:<\/p>\n

1.<\/strong> \u00a0Crying in movies<\/p>\n

2.<\/strong> \u00a0Having disgusting please-throw-that-TV-out-the-damn-window sex. It doesn’t turn you on. Doesn’t make you wanna try it. Just makes you question your entire identity and existence as a Nigerian. Like, but how can I go around saying I’m Nigerian when I have people like this disgracing me on TV in the name of a sex scene?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

I will not bother to mention how tacky it is for her to be cursing people out on Twitter. Albeit, I do acknowledge that peeps can piss you the hell off, so there might be a day that you just don’t feel like dealing with anyone’s foolishness. Let’s say that yesterday was that day for Tonto (tongue in cheek).<\/p>\n

And so, while people are fighting with her, for her, or against her because of her new single, I want someone to tell me what the hell she’s talm’bout in these tweets.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
