Where do I begin? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don’t know if I should start by wishing you a Happy New Year or by apologizing for even showing up here today to wish you a Happy New Year. You’re right, I should start by wishing you a Happy New Year. So, Happy New Year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It feels like you and I were in a good relationship, and then I just disappeared and ghosted you and never explained to you what happened, why I left. And now, I have shown up at your door with a bouquet of flowers to tell you that it’s not what you think (or is it?) and I can explain (but can I really?). Actually, I can.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you know how many times I blogged in ALL of 2019? Nine times. Yes, nine. Single-digit, NINE. I have been blogging for over 10 years, and this is the first time this has ever happened to me. I knew, of course, that I rarely blogged in 2019, but when I actually counted the posts and only came up with nine? WOW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am sorry that I disappeared, but when I tell you why I did, you’ll understand. A whole LOT has happened. Too much has happened. I have spent too many hours and shed too many tears agonizing over it. Why did this happen? Why did it happen to me? What did I do wrong? What am I being punished for? When did it start? Why did I not notice sooner? Did I notice it and ignore it? Where and when did I make the wrong turn? Did I even make a wrong turn? What is the purpose of this trial? What lesson am I supposed to learn? What is God doing? Is He doing anything? Is He aware of what is going on? Does He even know that it’s me, His Vera?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Too many questions. I don’t have answers for most of the questions, but I have found out over and over and over and over that everything is working together for my good. And my oh my, it IS<\/em><\/strong> good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I want to tell you everything — or most things at least. I have been sharing my life with you since I was a teenager, so why stop now? Sweet Potatoes, you and I, we’ve been together for a long time, so yes, I want you to know everything. But I’m going to share it first with the inner circle<\/a><\/strong>, the people who are subscribed to my emails and receive them once or twice a month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well, if you receive my emails, then you know I get pretty intimate in there. I get candid and transparent and vulnerable. So, if I’m going to be coming out of the proverbial closet to tell you what has been going on in my life, I think I should start from there. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

By the way, I don’t know what you think has been going on, but I guarantee that when I tell you what’s been going on, your jaw will be on the floor and will be too heavy to pick back up. You might even lay an egg after reading my story. For this story, you’re going to need popcorn, lots of it. I suggest you purchase it in bulk. You’re also going to need a strong beverage. And when you’re done reading it, you’re going to wash your face and scrub your eyes, and then, you’re going to come back to read the story again because your brain will convince you that what you read could not have possibly happened, that it’s all made up, and maybe Vera is just practicing for a dramatic Nollywood movie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I assure you, it’s all true.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
