That&#8217;s why Nigerian women cannot and should not wait for Nigeria to be ready for feminism. Sometimes, one does not have to prepare for greatness before greatness is thrust upon them.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12295\" src=\"https:\/\/verastic.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Strong-Black-Woman-Verastic.jpg\" alt=\"strong black woman - verastic\" width=\"750\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/verastic.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Strong-Black-Woman-Verastic.jpg 750w, https:\/\/verastic.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Strong-Black-Woman-Verastic-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Granted, there has been <a href=\"http:\/\/verastic.com\/tag\/ibelibe\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>a lot of foolishness on the internet<\/strong><\/a>, done in the name of feminism, and perhaps, they have shed a comical and unserious light on feminism, making the rest of us look stupid, but when I see women denouncing feminism, I assume that this is because they are simply confused by what feminism actually means. Perhaps, they are just hung up on the word. So naturally, especially in light of recent events, I have compiled a list of what feminism is and isn&#8217;t for the confused Nigerian woman. You&#8217;re welcome.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What Feminism Is:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong> \u00a0Advocacy of political, social, and economic equality for women.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.<\/strong> \u00a0An end to discrimination against women based on gender.<\/p>\n<p>Simple enough?<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What Feminism Isn&#8217;t:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong> \u00a0Hate or disregard of men or husbands<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.<\/strong> \u00a0Lesbianism<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.<\/strong> \u00a0Dragging of manhood (we like our literal and figurative genitals, just as they are)<\/p>\n<p><strong>4.<\/strong> \u00a0Cancellation of menstrual cycle<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.<\/strong> \u00a0Severing of the uterus or womb<\/p>\n<p><strong>6.<\/strong> \u00a0Devil worshipping<\/p>\n<p><strong>7. \u00a0<\/strong>Non-belief in marriage and\/or motherhood (<a href=\"http:\/\/verastic.com\/social\/chimamanda-ngozi-adichie-is-allegedly-pregnant-and-nigerians-are-dragging-her-by-the-brows.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>like that time Chimamanda dared to be pregnant<\/strong><\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><strong>8.<\/strong> \u00a0Disobedience of the bible<\/p>\n<p><strong>9.<\/strong> \u00a0Growing wings (humans are actually incapable of doing this)<\/p>\n<p><strong>10.<\/strong> \u00a0Cessation of cooking (especially in <a href=\"http:\/\/verastic.com\/social\/heres-tiwa-savage-needed-respond-10-key-lessons.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>these turbulent times that it can lead to attempted suicide<\/strong><\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>11.<\/strong> \u00a0Dragging of the front seat of your husband&#8217;s car (this should not be an issue because the seat is the wife&#8217;s, not the mother in-law&#8217;s &#8211; unless she wants to start sleeping with her son).<\/p>\n<p><strong>12.<\/strong> Morphing into a transgendered person. (I assure you that feminism isn&#8217;t what turned Bruce Jenner into Caitlyn)<\/p>\n<p><strong>13.<\/strong> \u00a0Being a whore.<\/p>\n<p><strong>14.<\/strong> \u00a0Hatred of love and romance, and anything that implies it<\/p>\n<p><strong>15. \u00a0<\/strong>Intent to or interest in becoming wrestlers, so we can beat our men up<\/p>\n<p><strong>16.<\/strong> \u00a0A desire to change our tires ourselves.<\/p>\n<p><strong>17. \u00a0<\/strong>A desire to look like men.<\/p>\n<p><strong>18.<\/strong> \u00a0A secret plot to steal all our husband&#8217;s money<\/p>\n<p><strong>19.<\/strong> \u00a0Infidelity\/adultery<\/p>\n<p><strong>20. \u00a0<\/strong>Western juju to turn our men into fuck boys.<\/p>\n<p>We just want to be given equal opportunities. Given what women and the world stand to gain from feminism, why would anyone not want it? Think about your wife, mother, sister, and daughter(s).
