As you know, I attended a couple of blog conferences last\u00a0year, and in both of them, one very important question was asked: why? Why do we do the things we do? Why do we want to do the things we want to do? Why do we want to succeed with what we’re doing? As writers, as bloggers, as speakers, as entrepreneurs, as designers, and of course, as moms. What is our Why<\/em>?<\/p>\n

During both of last\u00a0year’s conferences, I was pregnant (6 months pregnant in the first one, and 8 months pregnant in the second one). I knew I was having a baby, of course, but I did not know if it was a girl or a boy. As much as I was connected to the baby, it was not completely real until I had my baby in my arms. Prior to that, my why was for myself and for my family. Every day, I thought about the people whose lives my success will change, and they inspired me to keep going forward.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

When I learned that the\u00a0Life is Why<\/a>\u00a0American Heart Association exists, I connected to it.\u00a0They want people to experience more of life\u2019s precious moments, which is why they\u2019ve made\u00a0better heart and brain health their mission. <\/span>Because for me, life is definitely why.<\/span><\/p>\n

After my daughter was born, my\u00a0why<\/em>\u00a0evolved. All of a sudden, I found myself wondering what\u00a0my life was like before this girl came into it. What was I doing? Although it was her who was born on October 20th, but I, myself, was reborn. I feel like I have a second chance at life, and I feel like I have a new reason and a new calling. No, I do not plan to quit everything I have been doing, nor has my\u00a0why\u00a0<\/em>changed, but it has now evolved. My baby is now part of my\u00a0why<\/em>, and she’s right at the top of it.<\/p>\n

Now, more than ever, I’m beginning to realize and appreciate the power I have as a mom. I have all the power to take care of my daughter and point her to the direction where I want her to be. It is my job to teach her how to eat her veggies and fruits for her brain and heart health. And it is my job to teach her to get enough sleep for her health. It is also my job to point her in the right direction of life in general. It makes me want to go back in time and thank my own mommy for all her hard work.<\/span><\/p>\n

For me now, my baby is my biggest motivation for living a healthier, longer life. She is why I will consciously strive to do better. She is why I will fight with everything I have to make my dreams comes true because I want her to chase her own dreams, too. She is why I will endeavor to be healthier because I know that she will do what I do, not what I tell her to do.\u00a0<\/p>\n
