Let me not lie to you. When I start\"\"ed reading this book, I thought it had a slow start. But I kept reading nonetheless. \u00a0Also, I frequently forgot to check the date of the chapter I was reading: 1999 or 2009? And so, I found myself getting a bit confused and having to go back and forth to remember what year the time machine of this book had taken me to. But that didn’t last for long at all.<\/span><\/p>\n

I don’t know when it happened, but I fell deeply and hopelessly in love with Kevwe Mukoro. How couldn’t I be in love with him? He loved so passionately, so deeply, and so sincerely. And I found myself wondering what a real-life Kevwe would be like. Does he even exist? If he does, where can I get one?<\/span><\/p>\n

Myne’s protagonists – Efe Sagay and Kevwe Mukoro – are very dynamic. Very real. Very human. Several times, I nodded my head along as I read their dialogues. When they cried, I cried with them, and when they laughed, I laughed with them. Seriously, I did cry. I couldn’t wait to turn the page, couldn’t wait to find out what happened next. For this book, I ignored phone calls, skipped meals, and left tweets unread and unreplied. I could not just be pulled away from this book. And when it finally came to an end, I wanted more. I was reading so fast that I didn’t even notice I had gotten to the end until the title of the next page said ‘Acknowledgements.’ \u00a0Acknowledgements?!?!<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

One thing that I adore about Myne’s books is that they are not only entertaining, but also enlightening. I knew absolutely nothing about Itsekiri and Urhobo tribes, other than that they exist somewhere in the Middlebelt of Nigeria. And now, I’ve learned about them. And it feels pretty darn good to know.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the spirit of being honest – you know I’m always honest – page 120 and 130 of this book had been squeezing my legs shut and thinking thoughts I had no business thinking. \u00a0Those circular kisses around the nipples had me calling the name of the Lord and reciting His word, “Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”<\/em> This one was hard oh! And I’m not referring to my nipples. Not to worry, I sprinkled some holy water on myself – in the form of a shower – and I was good after that. If this gets on my record in the good book, I’ll be sure to point to Myne as the cause. Anyway, I’m sure Angel Gabriel knows already.<\/span><\/p>\n

Myne’s book is life. No, not the book of life<\/em>. But it’s life. It has real characters that you can relate to. If you have ever fallen in love and lost or gotten hurt in some kind of way, you’ll relate to this book. If you have never fallen in love, check yourself. And when you’re done checking yourself, buy the book, and you will relate. It’s a good book. I approve this book review. But of course, I approve it. I’m writing it.<\/span><\/p>\n
