It’s my birthday today, and I am too happy. As you can see, I even took the time to take pictures! This is something I’ve never done before. But there’s always a first time, and today seems to be a perfect day. If I was still having my party, I would have used pink, black, and white balloons. But since the party won’t be happening, I decided that I still deserve to have my balloons. I always put birthday posts for others where I talk about them, so this year, I’m writing myself a short note.<\/p>\n

Dear Vera,<\/em><\/h2>\n

Happy birthday to you, and what a difference a year makes. As you start your celebration today, don’t forget to give God the praise for preserving and protecting you, especially from things you still don’t even know about. Sometimes you get sad (like you did two days ago) because you feel like you are not accomplishing as much as you want, but you forget that as your mommy always says, whatever time of the day a person wakes up, that is the person’s morning, and for you, your morning only came recently. You know this. Remember to pat yourself on the back for a job well done. You have faced adversities, and through it all, you have smiled publicly and wept privately, and you have held your head high while doing it.<\/p>\n

You know that you know that you know that you are truly blessed and highly favored, and it has never been more evident in your life than now. \u00a0Pick up your head, Queen. There is nothing to be sad about. Every single adversity you have faced has proven to you over and over that God loves you and is always looking out for you. He knows the beginning from the end, and before you get there, He has already sent help ahead of you. Have you not always somehow found a way (that wasn’t there before)? When will you learn to truly trust Him and let Him have your problems. Hasn’t He always taken care of you? *Vera nods in agreement*<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Peek-a-boo<\/p><\/div>\n

This is a new you in a new year.\u00a0Forget about the mistakes you think you made, and the time you think you wasted. Everything in your life is exactly where it is supposed to be. Nothing can happen unless God says so, and when God says so, who dare challenge Him? You worry too much. You worry about today. You worry about tomorrow. You worry about Igwe. You worry about your parents. You worry about your friends. You worry about Nigeria. You worry about America. You read an obituary on Facebook and you weep for the lost soul that you didn’t know. You even worry about your unborn children.\u00a0Haba, are you the only one? You are not Jesus. Stop going to bed grieving for lives you didn’t save, and stop fantasizing about being a super hero to fly in and save the world from itself. Only Jesus saves, and you are not Him.<\/p>\n

Today is your day. Enjoy it. Heaven is celebrating with you. You will reach your destination, but for now, enjoy the journey.<\/p>\n
