So Facebook is a great place to do business — I suppose. I’ve never tried to sell anything on Facebook, but if I had something to sell, I’d definitely be selling it there. \u00a0I’ve seen a lot of Nigerian businesses sharing their products and services on Facebook. They show pictures and give fancy descriptions, but every time someone leaves a comment to ask, “How much?” the answer is always the same: check your inbox.<\/p>\n

Is the price a secret? I would have thought that putting the price out there is part of the fascination and package? Or maybe not putting the price up adds to the curiosity of every other potential client\/customer and leads them to ask the same price question? Literally, there’ll be like 10 consecutive comments all asking the same question and there will be 10 responses answering the same way: check your inbox.<\/p>\n

After thinking about it, I have come up with some reasons why the prices are hidden:<\/p>\n

1.<\/strong> \u00a0The price is indeed a secret.<\/p>\n

2.<\/strong> \u00a0They don’t actually want to sell; they’re just playing with us.<\/p>\n

3.<\/strong> \u00a0They don’t want other retailers to “copy” their price.<\/p>\n

4.<\/strong> \u00a0The price depends on the person who is asking.<\/p>\n

5.<\/strong> \u00a0They don’t want people to price shame them on Facebook.<\/p>\n

6.<\/strong> \u00a0They don’t even know the price of the item.<\/p>\n

7.<\/strong> \u00a0The product doesn’t exist yet.<\/p>\n

8.<\/strong> \u00a0If they tell you the price publicly, they’re going to have to kill you.<\/p>\n

That’s all I can think of for now. I have to admit: I have never actually left a comment inquiring of the price of an item, but that’s mostly because I already know the answer: check your inbox. The irony is that sometimes these retailers already have websites with the items and prices, so it’s not technically a secret, but somehow, when it comes to Facebook, the prices elude them.<\/p>\n
