Ehen. Remember a few days ago I told you about my most coveted holiday hairstyle? So I asked Funmie to come over and help me achieve anyone of them. Little did I know what I was setting myself up for. Funmie came over and started watching Nollywood movies on her phone while I suffered and washed and conditioned my pair with my Pantene Clarifying Shampoo and Pantene Deep Conditioner. Funmie finally decided to join in.
Before we started, my hair was so brittle. I won’t lie, I had been treating it badly. Funmie applied some of my Pantene products (Pantene Advanced Keratin Repair Kera Gloss Oil Mist and Pantene Shine Serum with Argan Oil) and we – Igwe included – were all so shocked at how nice it looked. My hair was shiny and smooth. Funmie told Igwe to bring a camera FAST! We took the pictures and then disaster struck.
Funmie did not know what the heck she was doing on my head. I told her several times: I do NOT want tiny twists on my head. Still, Funmie proceeded to do them. The funniest part was when she decided to do a twist out. I may not know much about my hair, but I knew for sure that a wet twist out is just wet hair. Period. Funmie twisted my wet hair and then untwisted it 5 minutes later, only to tell me that my hair wasn’t twisting *one brow up*
Then, just when I thought it couldn’t get worse, it did. Funmie started doing a flat twist on my head. This wouldn’t have been such a bad idea if she actually knew how to twist. That was when I vexed and said forgerrabourrit! I will do my hair myself! I didn’t know what I’ll do to it — or how I’ll do it.
I did average-sized twists on my head and went to bed. Then the next day, I decided to play with it. Remember in my first natural hair post, I told you about how springy my hair is? Well, that’s why it looks so little in the picture above and the picture below with the twists. And the white stuff is just extra product. I ended up with an afro bun, but it wasn’t as nice as I intended, and that’s mostly because I am still learning how to do my own hair. On the plus side, Pantene has made my hair feel like cotton candy. Shiny cotton candy.

I know the giveaway is over but just wanted to say that your hair is not bad Vera. It may seem like nothing is happening with your hair but believe me when I say you will see it soon. Natural hair takes patience. Take care of it and it will take care of you. Have a fun-filled natural hair journey.
