Have you watched any of my live broadcasts on Instagram? We have discussed everything from Nigerians and their door peepholes to seed-sowing in church to politics in Nigeria to the tension between Africans and African-Americans, and yes, to men and women cheating. It has been a wonderful experience for me and something I have wanted to do for a very long time. I’ll be doing it again this evening.
That said, one of the live videos has inspired today’s post. Who cheats more: men or women? I actually did a poll on this topic on Facebook a while ago, and at the end, it said that men cheat more than women. Well, I disagree, and I’ll tell you why.
After a deep, long conversation with myself, I took some time to analyze my past relationships. The first thing I concluded is that the meaning of cheating is fluid. What does one even mean when they talk about a person cheating on another person? I think that most times, people are thinking about sexual intercourse with another person. But there are many other ways to cheat, no?
For example, would kissing another person count as cheating? What about liking someone else? What about “talking to” someone else? Then we have to figure out what “talking to” even means. And what about just flirting with someone else? On that note, is there such a thing as harmless flirting? Who deems what is and isn’t harmless?
All that being said, I think that when the question “who cheats more?” is asked, people are generally thinking about men cheating on their women. But when we consider all the other kinds of cheating, the question then becomes, “Do men really cheat more?” Lastly, I think certain behaviors are deemed as cheating depending on who is doing them. For example, it’s probably cheating when a man is talking to another woman, but is it still cheating when a woman is talking to another man? I think not. I think it’s instead called, “Keeping your options open” – or at least that’s what I called it when I did it.
So, when I had the long, deep conversation with myself, I discovered something amazing about my relationships. And I will tell it to you tonight when you tune in live with me on INSTAGRAM LIVE. Tonight at 8:00 PM EST (1:00 AM Nigerian time). I’m putting all my business out there y’ll!
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT INSTAGRAM LIVE: It’s way more fun to watch live. That way, you can engage and interact with other people. Also, the video disappears after 24 hours. Please remember this!
What to do before 8:00 PM tonight:
1. Set your alarm! 8:00 PM EST (1:00 AM Nigerian Time)
2. Follow me on Instagram @verastic
3. Pop your corn, fill your glass with a beverage of your choice, and then sit down and cross your legs on the table because it’s about to get down. Like I said, I’ll be putting my business on the gram.
