Well, have I got the place for you!
Growing up in Nigeria, I knew about Sugar Daddies, of course. My general understanding was that a Sugar Daddy was an older, wealthy man who dated a young girl and spent a lot of money on her (and had sex with her, too). But I never really thought of the girls as Sugar Babies. The term, Sugar Daddy always had a negative connotation to it.
But this is 2013. Now, there are websites like Ashley Madison for a potential adulterer to go and find himself a willing partner in crime. I thought it was crazy then. I still think it’s crazy. Now, thanks to Naija Runs Girl, I have also just discovered a website where you can go and search for a Sugar Daddy or Sugar Baby. The whole idea of the site is to hook up wealthy and generous men with young, attractive women for a mutually beneficial relationship (arrangement).
I have a lot of questions and opinions on this, and you will know what they are on Saturday. Yuuuup! Come this Saturday, June 29th, I will be hosting The Verastic Show with Lolita aka Naija Runs Girl, and I imagine it’s going to be one hell of an interesting show. I cannot wait!

Now, I’m going to leave you with one question: Where – if any – is the line between being a Sugar Baby and being a straight up ashewo?
Kiky says
I think the difference between the two is that a girl who has a really generous sugar daddy may just be satisfied with having just him as a partner and may not even have a boyfriend. But a prostitute is running a business and will take as much partner as possible or impossible.
Vera Ezimora says
I see. Makes sense.
Lady Ngo says
I’m a firm believer in calling a spade a spade so to me there is no real difference. The business model may be different but the end product is still the same lol.
Vera Ezimora says
Lady Ngo, this is true. Very true.
Sir Farouk says
There is a difference but what it all boils down to is exchanging affection, sex, companionship or whatever kids are calling it these days for material gain. Generally, I do not think it is my business what a grown person chooses to do with their body. On the low though, I wouldnt have minded having a sugar mummy in college. lol
Odesh says
The amount of sugar? No?
Myne Whitman says
Is there a difference?
Vera Ezimora says
Not to me. But some people think there is.
