If you are looking at buying a piece of equipment for your kitchen you may be trying to decide whether to buy a blender of a food processor, so which is best? There really isn’t a simple answer to that question.
The decision on whether you need a blender or a food processor is going to depend, to a large extent, on what you are going to use the product for. You may think that they both do similar things, but that isn’t really true, read more at Vitality4Life.com.
What are the benefits of a blender?
A blender is ideal for blending soft fruit and juices together. If you have just produced some fresh juice with your juicer then you can use the leftover pulp to blend into a great refreshing smoothie. If smoothies are your thing then blenders will probably be too.
Some blenders can even cope with blending up ice for your smoothies, so that you can enjoy some welcome cool refreshment in hot weather. On the other hand, blenders are not designed to chop larger or harder objects. Their blades are not designed for this, and they have a slim line shape which is also not designed to withstand chopping large vegetables or nuts.
Where does the food processor come in?
If you love to make soups, then chances are you want to use plenty of vegetables in them. A food processor will chop vegetables in no time so they are ready for your soup, or perhaps for a home-made stew. Its blade is designed for chopping larger items, and it has a larger bowl than a blender, to accommodate whole vegetables, such as kale.
A food processor will cope with most products, such as nuts, and large amounts of ice for your drinks. The only thing that a food processor doesn’t deal well with is liquid. If you are going to be using liquid, or anything soft, then you would be better advised to use a blender.
So which should you have, a blender or a food processor?
In an ideal world it’s probably a good idea to have both of these items in your kitchen, but that isn’t always a convenient solution. It could be that you are restricted by your budget, so that you can only purchase one or the other. Of course you may also be restricted by a lack of space; both blenders and food processors will take up room on your kitchen worktops, or in your cabinets.
If either of these is the case then you’re going to have to make a decision based on your needs. If you want to be able to make great smoothies each day, and that’s your main concern, then it would be best for you to invest in a blender. On the other hand, if you have more need to be able to slice and dice vegetables, a food processor should be on your shopping list.

I have both appliances, i was sold on getting a food processor after reading about its many awesome uses on ‘Dooneys Kitchen’ blog from making pounded yam, ewa agoyin, washing bitterleaf, chopping okro, grating carrots, cabbages, wateryam, to name a few. Its definitely the best pick of the two
