Mr. Shoes keeps saying that I am not — what’s the word? Oh, yes, adventurous. Can you imagine??? A whole me! Is that even possible? So, anyway, relating to food, I am apparently especially not adventurous. It was with this in mind that I decided to order something different at Cheesecake Factory – which, by the way, I did not know made more than cheesecake. Don’t judge me.
Yesterday was Uju’s birthday, and the girl insisted that we have dinner on her night (even though it was a Monday night). She refused to reschedule it for weekend. She made the dinner reservation for 7pm. I got there at about 7:45pm, and I was the first and only one there. The celebrant made her grand entrance a few minutes later. Instead of ordering my usual (some kind of meat and mashed potatoes), I decided to be adventurous.
I ordered pasta. Prior to this, I had never, ever ordered pastor anywhere. My food was called Evelyn’s Favorite Pasta. I did not know who Evelyn was, but whoever she was, she had to have great taste, right? Wrong. It tasted like pasta that was seasoned only with roasted tomatoes. It wasn’t even spaghetti. I tasted it once and told the waiter that I didn’t want it. I explained to him that I wanted spaghetti pasta, that I didn’t know the name of the food I wanted, but it certainly wasn’t what he gave me.
I know what you’re thinking: Vera, this looks delicious! Yes, it looks it, but it wasn’t. Perhaps, it may be delicious to you, but it wasn’t for my taste. I told the waiter, “I don’t know the name of the food I’m trying to order, but when I came here last weekend, a friend had it, and it was spaghetti – not this.” And he said, “Oh, I know what you want! You want the spaghetti that comes with chicken, right?” To which I said, “I don’t know if it comes with chicken, but is that the only spaghetti you have on the menu?” He answered affirmative.
This was what he brought me. I don’t know what this was, but I did not like it! By the time my second meal came, everyone else was done eating, so I didn’t even bother sending this back to the kitchen. I just asked for a box and took it home. Toby (my nine year old cousin) loved it, so I guess my $15.98 wasn’t wasted *INSERT ANGRY IGBO FACE*
All was not lost, however. I ordered a piece of cheesecake to go. I had never tasted their cheesecake. I ordered the Ultimate Red Velvet Cake Cheesecake. And it was so, so good. I’m getting all excited just thinking about it now. Never have I had velvet cake or cheesecake so good. I kid you not. And I’m not even crazy about velvet cake. I took it to-go because it was already too late to eat.
You’re probably thinking, okay, Vera … that’s all great, but where is the celebrant? I was so obsessed with taking pictures for my blog that I forgot to concentrate on the celebrant. I do, however, have one nice shot of her. She may not like this picture, but I love it. It’s so real and raw, not staged or posed for. I can’t remember what the heck she was laughing at.
Let me tell you a little bit about this girl. I was hoping that her new age will come with more wisdom and less craziness, but I don’t think that’s the case. How else would you explain why she went to the mall and bought a dress that was one size too small because she “did not feel like shopping?” Throughout the night, she was scared of eating, lest her zipper pop open. It must have made sense when she bought it. I’m still trying to comprehend it.

Happy birthday, Uju. May this year bring you love, health, breakthrough, and everything in between.

Yea, that red velvet cheesecake is yummy! I got introduced to it earlier this year. I am also not adventurous with food; I’m getting better though.
On a different note, the cheesecake portions over there are small, LOL. I guess everything IS bigger in Texas!
Vera Ezimora says
Hahaha @ everything being bigger in Texas. That portion is small, really? WOW. I thought it was small until I started eating it and had to force myself to eat the last bit of it. But it was soooooooo good. I wouldn’t and couldn’t have stopped eating if they had given me a piece that was triple that size.
kitkat says
hahaha at evelyn’s pasta. I have learnt to always order what i know!! :p.. expecially when it comes to dishes. I could be more open to new stuff when it comes to snacks and desserts. Evelyn musta only cooked for her family.. :p
omg i hate going to restaurants with friends that are so weight conscious cos they make me feel guilty bout eating lol :p
Vera Ezimora says
LOL @ going to the restaurant with weight conscious people. Yeah, that’s party pooper right there. When you go out, you just wanna EAT. If you can afford to eat the entire kitchen, then go for it, darn it. LOL. And LOL @ Evelyn only cooking for her family. No be lie you talk oh! That is the only explanation cause her pasta was whack! When you see Evelyn, tell her I said so.
lucidlilith says
