My Weekend Recount: Solachi’s 30th Birthday

L to R: Funmie, Seun [Funmie's sister], Solachi, Me, and Aunt Oma

It’s been a while since I did a weekend recount, I know. That’s because nothing has really been happening. Either that or I don’t take pictures at the event. Well, this weekend was a little better. Friday: I attended an engagement ceremony. Yorubas call this an Engagement. As an Igbo girl, it’s more like a traditional wedding. But every time I call it a wedding, people ask me, ‘what wedding?’ So okay, I’m sticking to engagement then. I didn’t take {Read More}

My Weekend Recount: A Baby Shower & Other Stories

Me-and-Busola

Last week, I decided to start telling you about what I did over the weekend. This is because I have convinced myself that you are remotely interested in what I did over the weekend. Please indulge me. Friday: It was a movie date with Igwe. BV (Before Vera), Igwe did not go to movies a lot. But before, I definitely went to see a lot of movies. I’ve always loved the movie theatre. It remains one of my favorite fun-things-to-do. {Read More}

My Birthday In Pictures (And A Few Words)

My cake

First of all, I apologize for taking this long to tell you about my birthday (it was on the 14th of January). That said, this year’s birthday was a blast! Last year was a blast. But this year was an even bigger blast. And most times, bigger is better … right? This cake was courtesy of Funmie, and it was mm mm good! More pictures and stories when you continue.

Sooo… Yesterday Was My Birthday

Before the 'craze' started

I know you were expecting a birthday post as usual, but nothing about yesterday’s birthday was usual. Like I mentioned before, what I really, really wanted was a birthday party, but since I came to that realization late. I decided to settle on having dinner with friends. This, too, was a late decision that only came on Wednesday night. I texted people on Thursday morning, and the dinner was on Friday night – my birthday – January, 14th 2011.

On Bridesmaids…

So, Bumight struck a chord with me on her recent post about wanting to be a bridesmaid. I have been a bridesmaid only one time in my life, and that was when I was Busola’s maid of honor. It goes without saying that it was Busola’s honor to have me as her maid of honor. Soon, I’m gonna be a bridesmaid for another friend, and no, I’m not gonna tell you who, when, or where. I talked about Busola’s nuptials {Read More}

Introducing Exhibit A

Before I go on, let me tell you what I named Busola’s baby. I named him Chidi, so henceforth, you can expect regular posts on Chidi. When a Yoruba person hears his name is Chidi, the response is usually, “Ah, omo Igbo ke???” LOL. It’s been quite interesting to say the least. Busola and her hubby gave him other names which I do not care to mention because this is my blog darn it! Busola can go and open her {Read More}

Unto Us A Child Is Born

I was gonna title this post, “He betrayed me,” because that was how I felt on Monday, but I guess I’m over it now – kinda sorta. I promised I had good news for you, so here goes: Busola has had her baby. She gave birth on Monday, December 22nd 2008 at 1:09 PM. The baby weighed 5.12 lbs. Alright, I’ll rewind. I know, I know, I know. I never told anyone that she was pregnant, right? Yes, that’s because {Read More}

So It’s My Fault???

I found two out of my closest friends in Naija on Facebook the other day. Imagine my pleasant surprise. One of them was my best friend [in Naija] and she got married in August. The other one was also really, really close to me, and she got married before my best friend. Anyway, they’re now both married. This wasn’t news to me since we talk on the phone quite often. Although not as often as we used to when I {Read More}

Goodbye Public Picture Of Vera

My goodness, my heart has just been beating gbam gbam gbam ever since that Busola of a girl put up her wedding website. Busola got engaged in 2006 (can’t believe it’s been two years already) and I blogged about her engagement. Anyway, she made one of those wedding websites, of course. As her maid of honor (which really was an honor to her), she had to have my picture up there in her Bridal Party section… So there it was…..a {Read More}

They Want My Downfall

Who are these people? “my enemies,” Busola, and Funmi.Gala Mania: I have been practically harrassing Tayo Odukoya for the longest time because I found out that his office is close to gala. I love gala!! Every time someone is going to Naija, I make sure I ask for gala, but somehow, they come back without it. In December of last year, Uju went to Naija for Xmas, and I made sure to warn her to bring back lots and lots {Read More}
